A new-build extension to the existing Royal and Sun Alliance corporate headquarters. The extension’s purpose was to provide additional office accommodation as well as a feature entrance/atrium for the Daily Post and Echo.
The Team:
Client – Royal & Sun Alliance /Liverpool Daily Post and Echo
Architect – KKA
Quantity Surveyor – KDP Capita
Main Contractor – David McLean
Principal structural/civil engineering works:
Double storey height ‘bow truss’ steel stanchions to the building perimeter, supporting a glazed curtain walling system to roadside elevation and long-span spare deck roof structure.
The new office extension and entrance/atrium was constructed off the original foundations built during the 1970’s to support a second phase of the Royal Insurance Headquarters building which was eventually aborted.
