Case Studies : Kings Reach

Reclamation and remediation of 225,000 sq ft site at Kings Reach to provide office accommodation for which Bingham Davis was commissioned to undertake a full civil and structural engineering service.

Principal structural/civil engineering works:
The civil package involved an environmental clean up and the total regarding of this 5.5 hectare (14 acre) site. This involved the demolition of two major structures, the rubble from which was reclaimed and used as bulk fill and, in the construction of phase one, the moving of approximately 100,000 m3 of soil. Part of the remediation involved the removal of a considerable area of Japanese Knotweed, being extremely difficult and costly to eradicate. However, working with the Environment we devised a method that satisfied all legislation and reduced a potential £500,000 cost to £38,000.
