Design and Build construction of a new three storey ‘L’ shaped commercial office building on the site of the former Merseyside Innovation Centre building, formally the site for the University of Liverpool Department of Nuclear Physics.
The Team:
Client – Neptune Developments
Architect – Falconer Chester Hall
Quantity Surveyor - Tweeds
Design and Build Contractor - HBG
Principal structural/civil engineering works:
Extensive site clearance to remove former basements and subterranean structures, including excavation and re-profiling of sandstone rock head. The structure comprises a mutil-storey frame supporting composite metal deck floors and roof, and a combination of masonry and stone work walls, glazing, cladding and curtain walling to the external elevations. The ground floor slab is partly ground bearing and partly suspended from ground beams, which are supported by mass pad foundations on the weathered sandstone bearing strata.
