Responsibility for training and development
Training needs which arise from the company strategic planning process will be identified by the directors and actions organised to meet the needs. The directors are responsible for evaluating that the training and development actions achieve the business objectives.
Although it is ultimately the responsibility of the directors to provide a framework to meet the requirements of the individual’s training and development needs, the responsibility for identifying these needs is also jointly held between the individual and their office mentor.
Individuals and their office mentor are responsible for evaluating whether the training and development actions have achieved the objectives. They are also responsible for evaluating the extent to which the learning has been put into practice for the benefit of the individual and or the company.
The senior engineers also have a responsibility to identify training and development needs for their team to achieve the objectives and performance standards required.
Graduate training
In all cases the supervising engineer is a chartered engineer of the company and the entire training scheme is supervised and controlled by the directors.
